Jay Walker, Personal Trainer, Cycle Instructor
Certified Personal Trainer
B.A Indigenous Studies & English Literature
Jay Walker’s interest and passion for health and fitness sprouted during his time at Trent University while studying Indigenous Studies. He focused his degree on different views of health and well being emotionally, spiritually & mentally. It was also around this time that he began running and training regularly in order to better his health. After graduating from University he enrolled himself into the Fitness & Lifestyle Management Program at George Brown College in order to learn more about the human body and how it functions in regards to sport & exercise, different nutrition concepts and counselling. While Jay first began his time here at Absolute Endurance as a receptionist, he quickly stepped into the role of a cycling instructor as well as a triathlon boot-camp instructor. Group fitness is one of Jay’s passions an he enjoys implementing training that is not only effective & challenging, but entertaining as well.
When it comes to training Jay believes in a client centered approach with a great deal of communication. Jay has worked with clients young and old, experienced or new to fitness. As well as being a personal trainer and group instructor Jay is also a run ambassador for Lululemon Athletica who can often be seen running around the downtown core. Jay’s own training consists mainly of running, cycling, swimming, body-weight & core-balance training, and his views on health & training are constructed around the multiple aspect models he focused his degree on. He believes that while we physically train our bodies, a lot of the work is also about mentally stimulating and training our mind and emotions so that they are all able to work together, as health is not only about the physical.
“It doesn’t make a difference to me what fitness level a client is, it’s about where it is that they want to go and how I can find different ways to help them get there. I began working in this industry with the mission of helping people to regain love and respect for their bodies and at the end of the day that is what is always driving me.”
