PHYSIOTHERAPY
At AETT Physiotherapy is one of our primary focuses of health care. Our licensed Physiotherapists (Physical Therapist, PT’s) are regulated under the Provincial Board of Ontario and the College of Physiotherapist of Ontario. Physiotherapists are in many cases almost always recommended by medical doctors for patient recovery care; this is due to the fact that PT’s are specialists. They have an advanced understanding of how the body moves, and how well to restore mobility and comfort for all patients. Our PT’s facilitate and encourage increased range of motion through therapy, flexibility and rehabilitation from illness, disease, long periods of inactivity, work related injuries, sports injuries and trauma. The target is for the patient to obtain an optimal level of mobility and pain-free living. These treatments can include Manual therapy, electric modalities, individual or assisted exercises, ultrasound, and Acupuncture just to name a few.
SOME OF THE MANY BENEFITS IN CHOOSING PHYSIOTHERPY ARE:
- It is a drug-free health care practice
- Deals with sports injuries and provides advice on prevention and recurrence
- Strengthen strained, or previously sprained muscles, joint injuries
- Direct care for children with paediatric conditions such as developmental delay, fractures and cardio respiratory conditions
- Management of diabetes and Cancer
- Provide Pre and post surgical treatments
- Manage incontinence
- Maximize your mobility if you have a neurological disorder such as stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury or Parkinson’s disease
- Provide pre- and post-natal care
- Treat and manage a range of respiratory and cardiac conditions
On your initial visit with one of AETT’s licensed Physiotherapists, in accordance with the Ontario Physiotherapy Association...you will undergo an extensive assessment that may include your health history, a consultation, evaluation of pain and movement patterns, strength, joint range of motion, reflexes, sensation and cardio respiratory status, if applicable. In addition, the physiotherapist may need to examine relevant x-rays, laboratory tests, medical records and surgical notes. Based on this assessment the physiotherapist establishes a diagnosis, answers your questions, and will work with you to develop individualized goals and treatment programs.
Many people chose to self-pay; or have some coverage for physiotherapy through insurance plans. Insurers include the Workers' Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and insurance coverage through their employer-provided or private Extended Health Benefit (EHB) plans and Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) coverage through automobile insurers. Check your plan for coverage.
