It is a known fact that on average an able person takes between 8, 000 – 10,000 steps per day; however, with each step we take we can be compromising our physical health through poor choices of foot wear and improper use-thus severely misaligning the body in ways we may not be aware of. Over time, this can lead to a multitude of problems.
A brief consultation with one of AETT’s qualified, professional foot care specialists regarding Custom Orthotics, can quickly diagnose and begin to alleviate any possible alignment issues or concerns regarding your foot wear; feet, leg, back and neck pain, headaches, gait and posture. Furthermore, a custom orthotic and proper foot wear is, in most instances, vital for training/competitive athlete’s and high performance individuals involved in activities that include running, jumping, high impact and explosive-type sports and exercises.
WHAT ARE ORTHOTICS?
Orthotics are orthopaedic devices that are used to alter or modify foot function and are designed to treat, adjust, and support various biomechanical foot disorders and body alignment issues. Some Orthotics are simple, commercially-made devices made for the general public. However, if worn incorrectly, those devices can be uncomfortable, ill-fitted and ineffective for the person wearing them. The most effective Orthotics are custom-made devices that are crafted to meet the specific needs of a particular individual. Custom Orthotics are created using an impression of the foot called a cast, which duplicates any misalignments in foot structure. Using the cast and computer technology (TOG GAIT SCAN) technicians in an orthotic laboratory design a device that balances out deformities and corrects misalignments.
The finished orthotic is placed in the patient's shoe to support the foot and eliminate abnormal foot biomechanics by keeping the foot properly aligned and comfortable. Usually the patient after a few days of getting used to the orthotic, develops a feeling of relief, less fatigue and less pain throughout their day.
