ACUPUNTURE is a safe, medically recognized method used for therapeutic use and treating pain throughout the body. Originally, used over 5000 years ago as a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine; it was later adapted by many other cultures-due to its powerful form of belief and healing. Acupuncture is now commonly used today in health and medical practices and is, in many cases, now a standard for patients’ treatment regimen. A great number of patients at Absolute Endurance Training and Therapy have chosen to undergo Acupuncture treatments as a part of their recovering therapies. The results are phenomenal! Many patients have gained a quicker ‘comeback’ from personal injury-allowing little interruption to their athletic training protocols, employment; and relief from stress and pain in their day-to-day lives. Regular Acupuncture treatments can also improve sleep, help break down scar tissue, tightness and ‘knots’ developed in muscles, provide general relaxation, relieve nausea, decrease headaches, reduce swelling and much more.
THEORY
Acupuncture stems from the understanding of the body’s healthy balance of forces “qi”. In Chinese medicine it is theorized that the human body, as well as every other living thing, has a natural flow of energy running through it. Qi is said to travel the body along channels called "meridians". Qi flows constantly up and down these pathways, and when the flow of qi is insufficient, unbalanced, or interrupted, yin and yang become unbalanced and illness may occur. Yang represents everything positive or masculine; and the other Yin is characterized as negative or feminine. One is not better than the other. Instead they are both necessary- it is the balance of both that proves overall health, physical and psychological well-being.
THE TREATMENT EXPERIENCE IS RELAXING...
Acupuncture can be best described as the superficial insertion of very fine needles into the skin at specific acupressure points in order to create electrical stimulus and heat that influence the energy and functioning of the body. Acupressure points vary from patient to patient, treatment to treatment and rely on very careful diagnoses of different kind’s by qualified professionals.
